Mr. Masterson specializes in consulting to the consumer goods and retail industry. He has worked across a range of categories, including pet care, food and beverages, beauty, nicotine, tissue products, fresh fruit, wellness, consumer health, retail pharmacy, baby care and electrical goods.
Recently, Mr. Masterson’s client engagements have included designing the net revenue management, marketing and innovation capabilities of a ~£2 billion revenue CPG group during a carve-out; supporting the design and post-merger implementation of two clients, generating a ~600 BPS improvement in EBITDA margin; leading the delivery of ~£60 million of cost reduction across both the GFRS and operating cost lines of a retailer; and supporting four engagements over a six-month period, to develop and implement a marketing spend effectiveness programme, which has improved marketing ROI by ~30%.
Additionally, Mr. Masterson has been involved in leading the design and implementation of a transformation programme, focused on a combination of cost reduction, improved marketing effectiveness and market portfolio strategy, which has to date created +£500 million in incremental profit, for a global CPG group; designing and delivering an SG&A cost-out programme for a listed CPG ingredients group for a six-month period, which has enabled a 100 BPS improvement in EBIT margin; and leading five engagements, across the U.K., Israel and Russia, to implement a new net revenue management capability, generating a ~7% improvement in gross profit.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Masterson served as Chief Operating Officer with Project Blu, a CPG start-up which focused on providing more sustainable pet accessories to the consumer and retail market. He started his career at Danone, where he worked in the Out of Home sales team.
