Kumanan Ramanathan

Mr. Ramanathan has significant industry expertise with digital assets and has been involved in leading company-side efforts for digital asset recovery, navigating decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, digital asset sales, staking, crypto on-chain tracing and investigations, cybersecurity, custody and wallet infrastructure, institutional trading, know-your-customer/anti-money laundering (KYC/AML) protocols, and centralized exchange operations.
Mr. Ramanathan has been serving as a Financial Advisor to FTX since its Chapter 11 filing. He oversees multiple divisions, including management of one of the world’s largest digital asset portfolios ($9+ billion). He also serves as a Financial Advisor to large crypto-native clients, assisting them with a range of services from IPO readiness to deploying capital across DeFi protocols.
Outside of the digital asset industry, Mr. Ramanathan has further been involved with traditional restructuring and turnaround company-side mandates for a variety of clients, including Endo Pharmaceuticals ($8 billion restructuring); Dunn Paper, Inc. ($400 million out-of-court restructuring); Philadelphia Energy Solutions ($1.75 billion restructuring); M&G Chemicals ($1.7 billion restructuring); USA Discounters, Ltd.; a $2.2 billion power and utilities company; and the buy-side support of LifeLabs (OMERS) in its $1.2 billion acquisition of CML Healthcare.
Mr. Ramanathan earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Toronto. He holds a Chartered Accountant designation and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
