Klaus Gerber is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal North America Commercial Turnaround and Restructuring in Atlanta. He specializes in working capital management and improvement, cash flow forecasting, business plan evaluation, assessing operational issues and assisting clients with accounting matters.

Mr. Gerber has more than nine years of financial advisory experience and has served clients across industries including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, commodity chemicals, integrated telecommunication, investment banking and brokerage, and real estate.

Currently, Mr. Gerber is working on the wind down of a $900 million balance sheet along with the dissolution of any corporate functions that survived a complex mergers and acquisitions transaction. The process includes management of 55 independent contractors and the A&M team effectuating the wind down. Mr. Gerber’s engagement includes delivering the closing balance sheet for purposes of net working capital true up and purchase price adjustment, the settlement of any remaining contracts, and advising on operational transition agreements and transition service agreements. He also advises on the management of cash, including the development of a cash flow forecast, capturing closing sources and uses, balance sheet liquidation proceeds and wind down costs.

Previously, Mr. Gerber oversaw the budget process of a $1 billion provider of infusion therapy services. He managed the corporate financial planning and analysis team along with A&M resources to deliver a comprehensive bottom-up budget to the board under a tight timeline.

Mr. Gerber also worked on a number of successful turnarounds in the manufacturing and construction industry, reviewing business plans and developing three-statement financial models which consolidated management reports and the external reporting packages. While building the model, he revised margin calculations and bidding strategies to reflect true contribution margin, and developed and implemented turnaround initiative work plans. The companies successfully refinanced their respective credit facilities.

Among other projects, Mr. Gerber assisted in creating a formalized projection and budgeting process for Georgia Gulf and assisted with developing the financial plan and establishing a financial planning and analysis department. He worked on the wind down of S&K Famous Brands, advised the unsecured creditor committee of Capmark Financial Group through a Chapter 11 filing, and advised Arcapita Bank in Chapter 11 proceedings.

Before joining A&M, he was a senior associate with KPMG in the transaction services practice, providing financial and business due diligence assistance for clients. He also provided sell-side and buy-side assistance for clients such as AOL, Verizon, Bayer, MasTec, Graphic Packaging and Nordic Capital.

Mr. Gerber earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Nuremberg, Germany and an MBA from the University of Georgia.
