Gershu Chandy Paul
With more than four decades of international healthcare leadership experience, Dr. Paul has led transformational programs across both public and private health systems. He has delivered scale-up initiatives, accreditation readiness, system reform, and governance-led performance improvement across multiple regions. Dr. Paul has worked extensively with healthcare providers throughout the Asia–Pacific region, including Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Australia, and Sri Lanka.
Before joining A&M, Dr. Paul spent 12 years as Group CEO of Pun Hlaing Hospitals in Myanmar, where he delivered a decisive turnaround within 18 months and led the organization to become the first in the country to achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. Under his leadership, Pun Hlaing Hospitals expanded to become Myanmar’s largest healthcare network. Dr. Paul also served as CEO of O2 Healthcare Group in Singapore, where he oversaw consolidation and revenue expansion across the group’s network.
Dr Paul’s other previous notable assignments include serving as President of Siloam Hospitals Group in Indonesia for a decade, where he led the organization’s growth from four to 33 hospitals and led its public listing with a market capitalization of approximately $1.8 billion. Earlier in his career, Dr. Paul served as CEO of the Southland District Health Board in New Zealand, where he contributed to population-based funding reforms, Māori health development initiatives, and the design and construction of a state-of-the-art hospital.
Dr. Paul earned an MBBS from Bangalore University and an MBA from the University of Otago, where he also obtained a diploma in sports studies. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) and a Certified Health Executive (CHE) with the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM).
