Diego Bergheim
With more than 10 years of restructuring experience, Mr. Bergheim advises corporates and investors in complex refinancing and restructuring situations, including balance sheet restructurings and turnaround initiatives. Mr. Bergheim has supported international and large European corporates in developing alternative restructuring strategies and preparing for both out-of-court solutions and formal in-court proceedings. In addition, his expertise encompasses working capital management, liquidity forecasting, and business plan development.
Mr. Bergheim’s notable assignments include: advising debt investors responsible for $3.8 billion in a distressed Swedish battery manufacturer; supporting the board of an offshore supply company with a $400 million debt restructure; and helping a real estate developer manage a NOK 1.8 billion debt restructure. Additionally, Mr. Bergheim advised a European transportation group on exit alternatives for its Nordic operations and helped a Nasdaq-listed biotech company achieve EBITDA improvements of €25 million. He has worked with clients across multiple sectors, including energy, manufacturing, shipping, real estate, healthcare, and consumer industries.
Prior to rejoining A&M, Mr. Bergheim spent two years with the Restructuring & Corporate Recovery department of Schjødt LLP, a leading law firm based in Norway, where he advised financial investors, boards, and management teams on complex Nordic restructuring and financing matters. His key accomplishments included advising stakeholders on high-profile energy, offshore, and real estate situations and supporting negotiations and liability management.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Bergheim was a strategy consultant with EY-Parthenon, focusing on corporate strategy and sustainability. He also served as Managing Director of a Swedish healthcare company, leading the business through significant growth, transformation, and performance improvement.
Mr. Bergheim earned an MBA from INSEAD and an LLM from the University of Oslo. He has lived and worked in several countries across Europe, Asia, and South America and is fluent in Norwegian, English, Italian, and Portuguese.
