David Williams
Mr. Williams brings over eight years of financial restructuring experience. His primary areas of focus are independent business reviews, cash flow and business plan monitoring, and court-appointed mandates, including acting as receiver and trustee under Canada’s Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and as monitor under Canada’s Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act. Mr. Williams has advised clients across a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, retail, construction, agriculture, and manufacturing.
Notably, Mr. Williams acted as the court-appointed proposal trustee and subsequently as receiver of Cleo Energy Corp. He led efforts that ensured all environmental liabilities were assumed by purchasers, resulting in no assets being disclaimed to the Alberta Orphan Well Fund. Mr. Williams’ other notable in-court engagements have included Delta 9 Cannabis Inc., Manitok Energy Inc., Big Bear Energy Rentals Ltd., Ladacor AMS Ltd., and Ceana Development Sunridge Inc.
Mr. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Victoria. He is a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP), a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT), and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). He is also a member of the Northwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP).
