David Lewis
During his more than 25-year career, Mr. Lewis has worked with many of the largest and most active global and regional funds, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices helping structure their funds, investments, and divestments. He has also advised on limited partner and joint venture direct investing. Mr. Lewis has advised and supported his clients on many of the largest transactions that have occurred in Japan in the last two decades.
Based in Japan for more than 28 years, Mr. Lewis has advised and overseen deal structuring and due diligence for hundreds of transactions there for investors of all types and from many jurisdictions, including the US, Asia, and Europe. He has also advised and assisted on the structuring of numerous real estate and private equity funds in the region.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Lewis was a Partner at KPMG in Japan, where he ran the Transaction Advisory Group in the Tax practice and was on the Japan executive committee, the global real estate committee, and the global tax committee. While there, he built the group up to approximately 300 people, exceeding the combined practice size of the other three Big Four firms and making it the dominant practice in Japan.
Mr. Lewis earned an LLB and a BCom (finance) from the University of New South Wales and a diploma in legal practice from the University of Technology Sydney. He is fluent in Japanese.
