He has extensive experience in operational and financial analysis, financial forecasting, cash management, business plan formation and feasibility, fraudulent conveyance and insolvency work, debt restructuring and business valuations.
Mr. Wells has advised / served in management positions involving numerous turnaround engagements, including both Chapter 11 and 7 proceedings, across various industries, including banking, insurance, subcontracting, real estate development, retail, concert promotion, private universities, healthcare, hotel / gaming, and general manufacturing / distribution.
He has been involved with many financial restructurings and debt amendments, formulating financial projections, business liquidations, help in asset sales, preparation of confidential information memorandums and business plans, evaluation of bankruptcy claims, creating liquidation analyses, assessing solvency, performing financial restatements, and industry / market evaluations.
Most recently, Mr. Wells was debtor adviser to Furniture Brands International, one the of largest domestic manufacturers and retailers of furniture under the brand names of Broyhill, Lane, Thomasville, Henredon, Maitland-Smith. He advised on the successful 363 sale of the company and managed the wind-down of the remaining estate.
In 2013, he was debtor adviser to Conexant Systems, a fabless semiconductor company in the high-tech audio / video sector. The case was awarded by M&A Advisor the “Restructuring of the Year” for 2013.
Besides advisory roles, Mr. Wells has held interim management positions – most recently serving as interim CFO/VP of Finance for a $380 million multi-specialty physician practice in western PA.
Earlier, he was an SVP at Washington Mutual, responsible for two of its reinsurance captives. Mr. Wells also served as interim CFO of a multi-specialty practice in southern CA and interim CFO/VP of finance of the former $1 billion outpatient surgery business of Healthsouth.
Other notable assignments include: MGM, WDC Exploration, Sun Healthcare, World Kitchen, Black Hawk Casino, State Line / Silver Smith Casino and AgriBioTech.
Before A&M, Mr. Wells spent over four years as a senior associate in the corporate restructuring group of a Big Five firm.
Mr. Wells earned a bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) in finance, accounting and entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Arizona, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor.
He is a member of the AICPA, Arizona Society of CPAs, Association of Investment Management and Research, Phoenix Society of Chartered Financial Analysts, American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
