Andrew Cannon is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Minneapolis. He specializes in advising and supporting clients on employee, HR operations, and payroll matters through various types of transactions. His primary areas of concentration are pre-sign diligence, merger integrations, divestiture and spin-off preparation and execution, and standalone and synergy cost modeling.

With more than 12 years of consulting experience, Mr. Cannon has worked across a variety of industries, including advanced manufacturing, chemicals, education, healthcare, and professional services.

Mr. Cannon’s notable assignments include: leading the HR and payroll workstreams of a global conglomerate, encompassing 5,500 employees across 38 countries, through the entire acquisition process, from pre-sign to post-close integration; managing the operational separation (including payroll, benefits, HR systems, talent management, and talent acquisition) of approximately 4,000 employees across eight countries during the divestiture of a company’s automotive thermal management solutions; and helping senior HR leadership with the spin-off of a $1.3 billion paper manufacturer, which required a new HR information system and payroll provider for more than 7,000 employees across Europe, North America, and Latin America. In addition, he led day-to-day HR integration activities for the acquisition of an edtech company of around 1,200 employees, including an offer and acceptance process with a tight timeline, benefits harmonization analysis, organizational design and talent selection, and employee communications. He also led both the planning and execution of integration activities for the acquisition of a manufacturer, distributor, retailer, and installer of aftermarket Jeep and truck accessories with $760 million in revenue and around 1,700 employees.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Cannon served as a Senior Manager in EY’s People Advisory Services practice, specializing in HR transactions.

Mr. Cannon earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.
