Andrew Burns is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Energy in Houston. He specializes in driving operational improvements and advising on transactions for energy companies.

With more than 11 years of experience, Mr. Burns has worked with public and private companies with operations in North and South America, Europe and Asia.

Mr. Burns’ notable engagements include working with a global integrated oil and gas company on a cost optimization assessment for one of its deepwater assets, where he was responsible for identifying payroll and non-payroll cost savings opportunities across all global corporate functions; leading the integration management office for multiple $1+ billion transactions involving oil and gas assets, where he supported integration planning and post-close activities across all business functions; and leading the measurement and monitoring of $300 million in value capture as part of the integration of a North American midstream platform, where he worked with commercial, operations and corporate functions to identify, quantify and execute revenue uplift and cost savings initiatives.

Additionally, Mr. Burns worked with a private equity company to plan for the purchase and subsequent carve-out of a North American renewable energy services company, collaborating closely with the private equity company and seller to determine operating costs of the standalone entity and develop a transition services agreement; supported the reorganization and support cost optimization for a global oilfield services company, where he designed improvements to reduce transactional purchasing cycle time by 70% and centralize the receipt and processing of supplier invoices and established a process to identify, execute and report on headcount reductions needed to right-size the supply chain and manufacturing functions; and supported a $400 million cost takeout effort related to materials and services across drilling, completions and production operations for eight operating areas.

Furthermore, Mr. Burns developed an enterprise resource planning business case for a North American upstream company. In this role, he facilitated value stream workshops to define core business processes, system implementation requirements, process improvement opportunities and organizational change readiness.

Mr. Burns earned a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management from Texas A&M University. He is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
