Abdalla ElEbiary

Mr. ElEbiary brings experience advising on public policies related to investment, SOE restructuring/IPO, FDI promotion, interfacing with DFIs (such as the IMF, IFC and EBRD) and international equity and sovereign debt investors. He has worked with various local, regional and international companies, investors and sovereign funds, as well as local policymakers and regulatory authorities.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. ElEbiary served as the first Chief Investment Officer of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt. He spearheaded the fund’s overall investment policy by crystallizing the investment mandate; laying out processes and procedures for investments (from idea inception through execution); and leading relationship management, corporate governance and reporting. He was instrumental in creating, motivating, leading and mentoring a world class investment team. During his time as CIO, TSFE executed over 23 investments across multiple sectors, including infrastructure and utilities, banking and non-banking financial services, healthcare, real estate and education.
Additionally, Mr. ElEbiary served as the first Chairman of the CIO council of the EMENA network. He has also held the position of Chairman of the Egyptian Private Equity & VC Association. Before that, Mr. ElEbiary was Managing Director of Qalaa Holdings for 14 years. Earlier, he was a banker with the Investment Banking Division of Merrill Lynch in New York, where he participated in merger and acquisition transactions, in addition to public and private financing of telecom and media companies in the U.S. and Europe. Previously, he was Business Analysis Manager at the Corporate Finance Department of the MeadWestvaco Corporation in New York. Mr. ElEbiary also spent five years with Procter & Gamble’s Finance Group, where he most recently served as Finance Group Manager — Internal Control for Egypt, Lebanon and East Africa.
Mr. ElEbiary earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from Columbia University in New York. He is certified in management accounting from the Institute of Management Accountants in the U.S. Mr. ElEbiary was awarded the American University of Cairo’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018 for his distinguished career, service to the community and to the American University of Cairo.
