Adam Sprague is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in London. He brings over 20 years’ experience working with management teams to identify, plan, and implement performance improvement opportunities.

Mr. Sprague’s primary areas of specialism are finance transformation and operations, shared services and global business services (GBS), outsourcing, and finance target operating model design. Mr. Sprague has worked with clients across a range of industries, including retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, shipping, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. He has led projects to design, build, and implement multifunction GBS, including finance, HR, procurement, IT, supply chain, logistics, order management, and sales support. His experience includes developing the business case to centralize European order-to-cash activities for a multinational consumer goods business, program-managing the global transition of finance activities to India for a multinational consumer goods business, and developing the GBS service placement design for a global retailer.

Mr. Sprague led GBS programs in deals for clients, such as the carve-out of a chemicals business, delivering an accelerated simultaneous setup of five shared service centers. Mr. Sprague advises private equity (PE)-owned clients on their GBS operating model options, business case, and implementation. For example, he led a multifunction shared services center options assessment and design for a packaging business for both a captive and an outsourced scenario.

Mr. Sprague has been engaged by clients to optimize their existing business functions and drive organization-wide transformation. His experience includes leading the transformation management offices for a PE-owned fast-moving consumer goods business and a UK workplace services business, focusing on driving EBITDA improvement. He has also led process mining (Celonis) engagements with a multinational consumer goods business and a European bottler.

Prior to A&M, Mr. Sprague spent eight years as a Partner at Genpact. He was a leader in the company’s CFO Advisory practice and a founding member of the M&A team, advising on GBS operations both pre- and post-acquisition. He also spent 14 years with PwC in the operational restructuring and finance transformation businesses.

Mr. Sprague earned a bachelor’s degree in business and is a chartered accountant.
