John Hanson is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring & Turnaround in Dallas. He brings more than 15 years of restructuring experience.


Mr. Hanson has a notable track record in financial advisory and is currently assisting SVB Financial Group, the previous parent company of Silicon Valley Bank. He is playing a key role in the company’s chapter 11 proceedings, guiding the filing of initial motions and leading efforts to stabilize operations and work towards reorganization. 

Prior to this, Mr. Hanson managed vendor relations during Revlon, Inc.'s chapter 11 case, focusing on reestablishing shipping and trade credit within the global supply chain. He has also advised debtors in complex, international cases such as Imerys Talc America, Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc., and Dex Media, Inc., leading initiatives to facilitate a smooth transition into chapter 11 and contributing to value creation for stakeholders during the emergence from bankruptcy.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hanson worked with a global advisory firm's restructuring practice, supporting sponsor-backed firms in both court-supervised and voluntary restructurings. He created liquidity forecasts, secured financing for debtors in possession and managed due diligence for the §363 sale of businesses.

Mr. Hanson earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Richmond and an MBA from Boston College.
