Ray Dombrowski is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring & Turnaround in New York. With more than 25 years of financial restructuring experience, he specializes in assisting corporations in developing and implementing financial turnaround strategies. He is also the head of training and development for NACR.

Mr. Dombrowski has served in interim Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Restructuring Officer roles and has advised large and mid-size companies in and out of bankruptcy. He has worked with clients in various industries, including energy, telecommunications, financial services, transportation, real estate and entertainment.

Mr. Dombrowski's clients have included SIRVA, SLI, Allegheny Energy, VecTour, Dresser Rand, APW, Verestar, Great Basin Gold, Oxford Resources, Triumph Group, OW Bunker, Horizon Lines, Maritime Equity Partners, Marchon Eyeware and the Unsecured Creditors’ Committees of Kodak, Westinghouse and SunEdison. He also assists private equity (PE) firms, mainly in shipping and transportation, with due diligence, integration and profit improvement.

Mr. Dombrowski served as CRO of MEPCO, leading a restructuring that reduced coal mining production costs by $11 per ton and increasing EBITDA by more than $25 million. His work for a Power Unit of GE achieved over $300 million in EBITDA improvement in just 18 months. Mr. Dombrowski’s awards include the TMA Turnaround of the Year—Mega Company Award for his CRO work at Chemtura, a $3 billion specialty chemical company that emerged from bankruptcy after paying all creditors in full and returning to pre-petition equity; the TMA Transaction of the Year—Mega Company for his work as CRO of Patriot Coal during two landmark transactions that provided for full environmental restoration and preserved all jobs; and the M&A Advisor Energy Restructuring of the Year for his work as CEO and CRO of OW Bunker.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Dombrowski served as SVP and CFO of Ogden Corp., leading the successful restructuring of the $3 billion conglomerate. Previously, he served as a senior executive with Bell Atlantic in various roles, including being responsible for its $10 billion leasing, finance and real estate businesses and its structured finance.

Mr. Dombrowski earned a bachelor's degree (honors) from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a J.D. (honors) and an LLM in taxation from Temple University. He is a frequent lecturer on operational restructuring issues.
