Andrew Burns is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Energy in Houston. He brings more than 13 years of experience advising energy companies on operational improvements and transactions.

Mr. Burns works with public and private companies across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. He partners with executive teams to deliver measurable financial improvements, optimize routine operations, and accelerate value realization, placing emphasis on building strong relationships and engaging employees to ensure change is carefully managed, improvements are sustained, and the organization is strengthened.

Notably, Mr. Burns played a pivotal role in transforming the performance of an integrated energy company’s upstream business. He led the development of a clear view of asset-level financial performance to pinpoint underperforming areas and design targeted actions to improve operating cash flow. His responsibilities included leading the review of multiple countries within the global portfolio, generating insights through peer comparisons, and working with country leaders to secure alignment on interventions aimed at driving rapid financial improvements.

Mr. Burns has led integration efforts for multiple transactions exceeding $1 billion, overseeing planning and post-close activities across all business functions. He directed the identification and realization of $300 million in value capture during the integration of a North American midstream platform, working closely with commercial, operations, and corporate teams to deliver revenue growth and cost reductions. He also advised a private equity firm on the acquisition and carve-out of a North American renewable energy services company, collaborating with both the buyer and seller to assess standalone operating costs and develop a transition services agreement.

Additionally, Mr. Burns worked with a major utility to develop a plan to significantly reduce the backlog of maintenance work, improve regulatory compliance, and minimize operational risk. In this role, he helped identify and design end-to-end process improvements to prioritize critical work in high-risk geographies and supported the adoption of changes across the organization.

Mr. Burns earned a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management from Texas A&M University and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
