Volker Groß

Mr. Groß has held several leadership positions, combining financial and operational expertise and taking on operational responsibility as CRO or CTO in critical situations. His focus is on family-owned mid-sized companies, but he also brings experience with large corporations. He has worked with clients across various manufacturing industries, including automotive, machinery and plant engineering.
Mr. Groß’s notable engagements include the restructuring of a Tier 1 automotive supplier with €100 million annual revenues, where he was responsible for creating the restructuring concept; negotiating the financing; and implementing the transformation process as CRO, and later as chairman of the advisory board. In a difficult market environment, the company was successfully restructured, and shares could be returned to the owners from a trust fund.
Additionally, Mr. Groß supported an international plant manufacturer with €400 million in annual revenues and single plants with a volume of €250+ million. On-site negotiations with the company’s listed Canadian clients resulted in immediate financial support of €30 million and the avoidance of insolvency. Mr. Groß also supported a steel manufacturer with €1.5 billion in turnover. Besides the development of a complex restructuring concept, the balance sheet had to be reduced by €100+ million and €350 million had to be refinanced. He was then responsible for the PMO process.
Furthermore, Mr. Groß has developed restructuring and financing concepts, led negotiations with stakeholders and supported companies in a responsible position during the restructuring process. His range of experience is supplemented by individual distressed M&A projects and insolvency issues.
Mr. Groß earned a master’s degree in economics (Diplom-Volkswirt) and an LLM in business law from the Universities of Saarbrücken, Sevilla and Madrid. A German national, he is fluent in German, English and Spanish and proficient in French.
