Stuart Rolland

With more than 30 years of experience in senior operating roles, Mr. Rolland specializes in education and B2B/B2C services.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Rolland was Chief Executive Officer of Cognita Europe for six years. He was a key member of the leadership team, which developed Cognita into a global K-12 schools platform and grew the organisation organically and through M&A to achieve an exit of £2 billion, representing a 26x multiple of EBITDA and 3x MoM for investors. Whilst CEO Europe, Mr. Rolland developed a group of 52 schools with revenues of £220 million and led on the acquisition of schools in Spain, Switzerland and Italy.
Previously, Mr. Rolland had a career in manufacturing, engineering and services companies. He turned around the financial and CX performance of British Gas Central Heating Installation division and went on to become Chief Operating Officer of British Gas. Mr. Rolland improved the NPV of the £2.5 billion smart metering programme by £300+ million through procurement and financing initiatives; delivered the £1.7 billion home insulation programme (Energy Company Obligation) on budget and led health and safety. He started his career as a strategy consultant with LEK.
Mr. Rolland earned a bachelor’s degree in modern history from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. A U.K. national, he was a Governor of Berkhamsted Schools Group for 11 years and a member of the Risk and Regulatory Committee. Mr. Rolland also established the Active Learning Group as a new division within Cognita and also the Nexus concept in Madrid and Barcelona as a learning bridge between school, university and the workplace.
