Mikel Ortega

Mr. Ortega’s primary areas of concentration are advising lenders and corporates in restructuring situations and negotiating with stakeholders to add value to companies. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including retail (fashion), construction, real estate and industrial products. He speaks frequently at business schools.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Ortega spent seven years with EY, where he served as Head of the Spanish Restructuring practice, building a team of 30+ professionals. There, he led and coordinated debtor and creditor advisory groups and held debt advisory, CRA and interim management roles. While at EY, Mikel led most of the fashion retail restructurings in the Spanish market. One of his most significant mandates involved stabilising the debt structure of a fashion company and leading the complete turnaround of the business, creating a new strategic plan that transformed a loss-making business into a positive EBITDA company. Prior to this, Mr. Ortega served as a Director with the Restructuring team of PwC and FTI and as a Senior Manager with KPMG.
Mr. Ortega earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and administration from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. A Spanish national, Mr. Ortega is fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in French and Catalan.
