Jonathan Woodruff is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Healthcare Industry Group and has more than thirteen years of healthcare revenue cycle and process improvement experience.

Mr. Woodruff successfully implemented both revenue improvement and cost optimization initiatives for both nonprofit and for-profit hospitals, surgical practices, skilled nursing facilities, home health, DME companies, and other healthcare service providers nationally and is a subject-matter expert in key performance indicators and metrics, patient access and financial clearance, denials prevention, operational standardization, and revenue cycle management.

Recently, Mr. Woodruff led a highly successful six-month revenue cycle performance improvement engagement for a health risk assessment and coding company. The provider achieved a 42-day, 100% cash-driven DSO reduction through technology enablement and operational improvement initiatives, including design and build of new coding, audit, and billing platforms, a complete re-engineering of pre-bill processes, and development of comprehensive reporting. During his time in an interim leadership role as the Vice President of Operations, he successfully led Clinical Documentation Improvement and Coding departments through ICD-10 conversion. 

Additionally, Mr. Woodruff directed a nine-month comprehensive revenue cycle transformation for a community health system with acute, rehab, cancer care, and hospice services. As the Project Executive, he directed a multi-disciplinary consulting team, achieving focused re-engineering of processes and technology across Patient Access, Clinical Documentation, Revenue Integrity, and Business Office departments. The provider experienced a 10% improvement in cash receipts, over the prior year, directly attributed to project initiatives.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Woodruff has led 31 revenue cycle operational assessments, identifying $305M in Year One Income Statement and Balance Sheet Improvement opportunity for clients.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Woodruff served as Vice President and Performance Improvement Practice Leader of the Revenue Cycle Advisory Solutions group for MedAssets, LLC.  In addition to having responsibility for 40+ consultants, Mr. Woodruff introduced revenue cycle capabilities into the company’s broader Total Performance Management offering, identifying integration points with labor, purchased services, and Lean management systems.  Prior to time with MedAssets, Mr. Woodruff was a Manager with Huron Consulting Group.

Mr. Woodruff graduated with Highest Honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in management and minors in information technology, marketing and international affairs.
