Brian Teets

Mr. Teets' primary areas of expertise include liquidity management, financial planning and analysis, cost reduction and working capital analysis, vendor management, business plan review and development, and chapter 11 preparation. His engagements have spanned across multiple industries including oil and gas, financial services, manufacturing and retail. His notable clients include California Resources Corp., Weatherford International, Key Energy Services, Philadelphia Energy Solutions, Southcross Energy, Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., the Rockport Group and Fedders Corp.
Most recently, Mr. Teets served as a Financial Advisor in the oil and gas space, working closely with management teams, private equity sponsors and other key stakeholders to successfully reorganize through out-of-court transactions and consensual plans of reorganization. He led the chapter 11 process for California Resources during its successful $5 billion balance sheet restructuring, and he oversaw the project management office (PMO) for Weatherford International during its successful $8 billion reorganization. Additionally, Mr. Teets ran the liquidity management function and the chapter 11 preparation process for the largest independent oil refiner on the East Coast and led the cash management and forecasting function for a Houston-based oilfield service provider.
Previously, Mr. Teets served as Co-Treasurer of Lehman Brothers, where he developed the five-year wind-down plan for Lehman’s executive management team and board of directors. This effort facilitated the repayment of over $80 billion in net recoveries to various classes of creditors during his tenure. Mr. Teets has also worked closely with several senior management teams to more effectively manage liquidity and reduce costs by focusing on capital structure, asset dispositions, working capital improvements, vendor management and customer profitability analyses.
Mr. Teets earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the University of Michigan, and an MBA (concentrations in finance and strategy) from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
