Recognizing that a change in healthcare delivery can lead to better healthcare for more, Jaewon Ryu, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Geisinger, has set his sights on leveraging value based medicine to enhance the health and wellness of his patient population. Dr. Ryu sees the value of bringing the financial and clinical accountability of a health system together in alignment to provide further opportunity to support the needs of patients and deliver equitable care.

A&M Senior Advisor David Shulkin, M.D., and A&M Managing Director Larry Kaiser, M.D., FACS talked with Dr. Ryu to learn more about his ambitious moonshot to innovate effective payment models to provide better patient care, inside and outside of the hospital. Through his approach of aiming to reduce the number of ER visits and hospitalizations, he is leading his organization to reduce the total cost of care, while improving patient satisfaction.
