Christina Barakett is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement services in London.

She brings more than 14 years of experience in advisory and interim management roles, leading operational restructures and finance functions to drive EBITDA and cash improvements. Ms. Barakett has worked in a variety of situations with clients across a range of industries including healthcare, business services, financial institutions and retailers.

Ms. Barakett is currently working with a £15bn engineering company in the set-up of Group Business Services, bringing together ~2,000 people from functions such as finance, HR, IT and procurement to support business units. This work has involved launching the new organisation and optimising cost.

Previously, Ms. Barakett supported the CEO of a private equity acquired €1bn technology solutions and services business to define and implement operating model streamlining and a cost optimisation programme to improve EBITDA. The programme drove €60m+ in annualised cost reductions within a seven-month period. She also supported the CFO of an £800m+ turnover private hospital operator in developing a Business Plan to support covenant renegotiations and shareholder equity injection. The Plan outlined £25m of EBITDA improvements over a two-year period.

Additionally, Ms. Barakett served as Deputy to the international division CFO of a $2bn wound care manufacturing and distribution company, during divisional restructure and integration of two acquisitions. Ms. Barakett drove the reorganisation of the finance function (outside USA) including defining global shared services centre vs. local roles, developing sales forecasting processes and KPIs to support business leadership. In the same organisation, she later acted as Interim lead for European regional Marketing and Medical Education teams during business turnaround. She has also led the performance improvement and sale planning for the international division of a Global Retail Services business, developing plans for EBITDA, cash improvements and carve-out from the international parent. The result was a 15% uplift to EBITDA-related valuations due to the improvements achieved. 

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Barakett supported the Finance Director at Barclays Bank in a new team tasked with building a finance function and overseeing in-house management and administration of £18bn in pension fund assets.

Ms. Barakett earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from McGill University. She is a Chartered Accountant (Canada). A British and Canadian national, Ms. Barakett is fluent in English and French.
