Mr. Mellis specializes in program delivery, IT strategy and effectiveness, social media, big data, digital and mobile communications. One key area of focus is how to design from the customer and consumer back into the organization, not the other way around.
For 10 years, he served as an executive director in charge of marketing, sales and customer engagement and worked (at a group level) on business performance improvement and the delivery of strategic programs.
Before A&M, Mr. Mellis was CMO for Sky Italy (Milan) and BSkyB for eight years in the U.K. There, he created SkyIQ which provided big brands (as well as BSkyB) with a single view of the customer / prospect. The services provided by SkyIQ were hosted data solutions, specialist applications, leveraging consumer viewing data and insight, big data, performance measurement and data governance.
Additional responsibilities included strategic program delivery, developing transformation initiatives that improved bottom-line performance by reducing the cost-to-serve and enabling eBusiness capabilities. His efforts helped the telecom business become profitable, reversed the declining share of viewing to paid-for-content, improved accountability, and implemented changes in sales and marketing strategies to improve performance.
During his first five years at BSkyB, Mr. Mellis managed subscriber, acquisition, retention and customer revenues, which helped grow the subscriber base by 50 percent and double revenues.
Previously, he was a partner with Ernst & Young and a senior vice president with Capgemini. He has led IT, CRM and performance improvement practices and has worked across multiple sectors.
Mr. Mellis earned a first class joint honors degree in marketing and operational research from the University of Strathclyde.
