Mr. Barclay is an accomplished enterprise leader with significant experience and success in management consulting, operations management, enterprise-wide business analysis and full-scale organizational transformation.
Mr. Barclay works directly with private equity (PE) partners and clients on operational due diligence, pre-acquisition analysis, performance improvement, rapid turnarounds and exit strategies that maximize shareholder value.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Barclay was Chief Operating Officer (COO) at ModusLink Corp., a Boston-based publicly-held company providing physical and e-commerce supply chain solutions globally, where he led their ongoing turnaround efforts, first in a C-level consultative role, then as COO, improving EBITDA by more than $32 million in his first 12 months.
Previously, Mr. Barclay was with Synergetics (management consulting) for over 20 years, where he held the position as Senior Vice President, Global Business Analysis, leading due diligence, business assessments/analyses and implementation engagements with PE firms and Fortune 100/500 clients throughout the world. Other relevant experience includes positions as Manufacturing Manager of Massachusetts Operations at Boston Whaler, a builder/distributor of top-grade sportfishing boats and an Investment Advisor with First Investors Financial Services.
Mr. Barclay has utilized Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma-based techniques across industrial, manufacturing/distribution, fulfillment, supply chain, automotive and marine/boat, food and beverage, financial and professional services, software, healthcare and medical devices, aerospace and defense and consumer products industry segments, achieving millions in performance improvements.
He has excelled in his role as COO of a $400+ million public supply chain/digital commerce company, as well as in his role as Manufacturing Manager of $80+ million privately-held boat building company. He has also been lauded for having more than 20 years of experience as top “Solutions Architect” (Synergetics) which has allowed him to develop project initiatives, engineer savings work streams and deliver value on time and on budget with billings in excess of $100 million.
Mr. Barclay has directly managed international consultative implementation engagements and enterprise-wide business analyses, achieving hundreds of millions in annualized profits and loss (P&L) savings and balance sheet/working capital improvements.
He has also championed direct operational management in multi-site international manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment and digital commerce operations (both private and public) with full P&L responsibility.
Mr. Barclay earned a bachelor's degree from Bates College in Lewiston, ME, where he double-majored in economics and mathematics. In addition, he graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidate School (OCS) Platoon Leader’s Class (PLC) program where the curriculum focused on leadership training, military strategy/tactics and combat readiness training, receiving an honorable discharge.
