With more than 12 years of corporate restructuring and financial advisory experience, Mr. MacDiarmid brings knowledge from a variety of industries, including retail, manufacturing, media, real estate development and financial services. He is experienced in strategic financial planning and analysis, cash flow budgeting and working capital management, business plan development and implementation, and operating expense reduction.
Mr. MacDiarmid most recently worked with Target Canada where A&M, as the court appointed monitor, oversaw the wind-down of store and distribution center operations as well as the sale of all real estate and other assets during the company's CCAA proceedings.
He also recently served as Interim Treasurer for Talbots Inc., a $1.2 billion multi-channel women's apparel specialty retailer, where he oversaw the Treasury, Credit/Cash Accounting and Risk Management groups. In this role, he was responsible for cash management and budgeting, borrowing base and balance sheet forecasting and bank reporting for the organization. While there he negotiated, along with financial sponsor, two separate financing transactions totaling $430 million.
Prior to that, Mr. MacDiarmid advised Hawker Beechcraft, a $3 billion manufacturer in the aviation industry, where he was engaged to assist with working capital and cash management during a tight liquidity period as well as develop the cash flow budgets necessary to size, negotiate and obtain three separate rounds of financings totaling over $1 billion. He also supported the business plan development and implementation efforts that eliminated unprofitable jet production lines and focused on the Company's core businesses. For their work on Hawker Beechcraft, A&M received the TMA's 2013 Large Company Turnaround of the Year Award.
Other notable clients have included: Eddie Bauer, Movie Gallery/Hollywood Video, Local Insight Media (“The Berry Company”), Woodside Homes, and a $1 billion specialty apparel retailer in New England.
Mr. MacDiarmid earned a bachelor's degree in business and economics, with a minor in accounting, from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of California and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA).
