Steven Laposa, Ph.D., FRICS, is a Senior Adviser with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations LLC, Real Estate & Environmental Services in Denver. Dr. Laposa has a broad range of experience including: public policy analysis, urban economics, institutional real estate research, global real estate investment analysis and strategy, bankruptcy and restructurings, corporate real estate and litigation expert consulting.

Representative litigation experience includes: expert witness on a variety of cases involving property tax assessments, real estate economics and capital markets, metropolitan districts, intergovernmental agreements, statistical models applied to real estate, market research, highest and best use analysis, forecasting models, geospatial analysis of environmental impacts. General consulting experience includes retail bankruptcy and store performance models, corporate real estate portfolio assessments, retail and office site location analysis, commercial real estate forecasting and trend analysis, commercial real estate equity and debt portfolio risk analysis and investment strategy development.

Dr. Laposa is an expert in the applied use of economic, demographic and third-party real estate information providers’ data and resources including the spatial integration and analysis of such data with geographic information systems. Dr. Laposa has several decades of work experience in the research groups of institutional advisors and consulting with international institutional investors and lenders.

Prior to A&M, Dr. Laposa worked as the Endowed Chair in Real Estate at Colorado State University, 14 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Director in the Global Strategic Real Estate Research group and additional time in research positions with LaSalle Investment Advisory and Alex. Brown Kleinwort Benson Realty Advisors. He has also guest lectured at several top real estate programs in the U.S.

Dr. Laposa earned an MBA in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver and a Ph.D. from the University of Reading, England in the Department of Real Estate and Planning. He is a member, and previous President, of the American Real Estate Society, the Urban Land Institute, CoreNet, National Association of Business Economics, American Economic Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers and is a Homer Hoyt Fellow. Dr. Laposa has also held editorial board positions and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications.
