Steven Laposa, PhD, is a Senior Adviser with Alvarez & Marsal Real Estate Advisory Services in Denver, specializing in applied global research and strategy in institutional commercial real estate.

His primary areas of responsibilities are co-directing the Global Real Estate Knowledge Center, new product development, and supporting thought leadership initiatives of REAS managing directors.

With more than 30 years of commercial real estate and construction management experience, Dr. Laposa has a broad range of experiences from industrial and commercial construction management, institutional real estate research, global real estate investment analysis and strategy, active author in industry and academic publications, bankruptcy and restructurings, corporate real estate, and litigation expert consulting.

Notable assignments include developing global investment strategy for a Middle East-based client, co-authorship of the first seniors housing and care investment treatise, creating portfolio management risk models for institutional clients, Rockefeller Center bankruptcy, advising Asian government officials on urban planning, co-authorship and research support for several regional editions of the Emerging Trends in Real Estate® during his tenure at PwC, corporate real estate site location for Fortune 500 firms, and mass valuation modeling for private sector and domestic and foreign governments entities.

Before joining A&M, he spent five years as the Endowed Chair in Real Estate at Colorado State University, 14 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Director in the Global Strategic Real Estate Research group, and research positions with LaSalle Investment Advisory and Alex. Brown Kleinwort Benson Realty Advisors. He has also guest lectured at several of the top real estate programs in the U.S.

Dr. Laposa earned his master’s in business administration in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver and his doctorate degree from the University of Reading, England in the Department of Real Estate and Planning.

He is a member of the American Real Estate Society (past President and current board member), the Urban Land Institute, Homer Hoyt Fellow, CoreNet and the International Council of Shopping Centers. In addition to a wide variety of industry articles and as a frequent presenter at international conferences, He has held editorial board positions on six academic journals and has numerous peer-reviewed publications.
