Steven Laposa, Ph.D., FRICS, is a Senior Adviser with Alvarez & Marsal’s Insight Center – International Economics and Real Estate in Denver. Dr. Laposa supports various thought leadership initiatives in banking, economics, emerging markets, retail and real estate for numerous divisions of A&M and actively serves clients through consulting and litigation engagements.

Dr. Laposa has a broad range of experience including public policy analysis, urban economics, industrial and commercial construction management, institutional real estate research, global real estate investment analysis and strategy, bankruptcy and restructurings, corporate real estate and litigation expert consulting. He is an active author in industry and academic publications.

Dr. Laposa's notable assignments include developing a global investment strategy for a Middle East-based client, co-authorship of the first seniors housing and care investment treatise, creating portfolio management risk models for institutional clients, the Rockefeller Center bankruptcy, advising Asian government officials on urban planning, co-authorship and research support for several regional editions of the Emerging Trends in Real Estate® during his tenure at PwC, corporate real estate site location for Fortune 500 firms, and mass valuation modeling for private sector and domestic and foreign governments entities.

Prior to joining A&M, Dr. Laposa spent five years as the Endowed Chair in Real Estate at Colorado State University, 14 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Director in the Global Strategic Real Estate Research group, and additional time in research positions with LaSalle Investment Advisory and Alex. Brown Kleinwort Benson Realty Advisors. He has also guest lectured at several of the top real estate programs in the U.S.

Dr. Laposa earned an MBA in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver and a Ph.D. from the University of Reading, England in the Department of Real Estate and Planning. He is a member of the American Real Estate Society (past president), the Urban Land Institute, CoreNet, National Association of Business Economics, American Economic Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers, and is a Homer Hoyt Fellow. In addition to authoring a wide variety of industry articles and acting as a frequent presenter at industry and academic conferences, Dr. Laposa has held editorial board positions on six academic journals and has numerous peer-reviewed publications.
