Mr. Vansteenkiste has managed and advised companies in a wide range of both the service sector (restaurants, hotels, theme parks and entertainment, mobile telephony, auto retailing, household goods, moving, apparel, transportation) and manufacturing sector (oil and gas refinery and retailing, automotive components, chemicals, aluminum, glass and plastics packaging and apparel).
Mr. Vansteenkiste was recently appointed as Chief Restructuring Officer at Imtech, the European electrical and mechanical solutions and automation company. He has responsibility for reviewing and overseeing the firm's restructuring and performance improvement initiatives.
Previously, Mr. Vansteenkiste served as Chief Transformation Officer at a large European retailing company where he was responsible for implementing profit improvement initiatives and providing interim management services. Prior to that, Mr. Vansteenkiste served as CEO of Vion Food, a livestock slaughtering and meat processing company with revenues of €8 billion based in the Netherlands and Germany. Recently, he served as Director and CRO of a NS Hispeed, the operator of high-speed trains between Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris, leading negotiations with the government and implementing a restructuring plan culminating in a €1 billion concession fee reduction.
Earlier, Mr. Vansteenkiste served as Interim Business Unit General Manager and CRO of the perfumery business unit of Paris-based SGD, a €650 million global glass bottle maker. He also served as board member and led the operational and financial restructuring of a key supplier to a large multinational consumer goods company.
Previously, Mr. Vansteenkiste served as CEO of Paris-based Diam, a global maker of point-of-purchase displays for the cosmetic industry, where he restructured the firm, grew sales and doubled EBITDA within 10 months. He also served as CRO and a board member of Schefenacker PLC, an €800 million Tier I global supplier of rearview mirrors, which went through a COMI shift from Germany to the U.K. There, he devised a restructuring plan consisting of site closures, cost efficiencies and purchasing savings.
Other roles include: CRO of a €500 million hotel concern; CRO of a €125 million international household goods moving company; interim CFO for Bally AG; interim CFO of Dockers Europe; and adviser to SICPA's turnaround and Benelux operations. He has also advised the largest Dutch banks on Kendrion and Kroymans.
Before A&M, Mr. Vansteenkiste worked in the multi-unit retail and theme park business both in the U.S. and Europe. He was General Manager of Six Flags Belgium, where he ran day-to-day operations and oversaw the park’s significant attendance and revenue growth and cost reductions, leading to record profitability for the park. At Taco Bell, he served as Zone Finance Manager, overseeing the finances of a 600-store territory and running store operations for Southern California, improving the district’s performance from last to second best.
Mr. Vansteenkiste earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, a master's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and an executive master's degree in interim management from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. He is fluent in English, French, Dutch and Spanish.
