H. Scott Burgess is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in New York and Washington, D.C.

With over 30 years of broad financial services experience, Mr. Burgess assists Senior Executives and Boards of global and regional financial institutions as well as service providers in navigating complex decisions of strategic repositioning (including acquisitions, divestitures and alliances), new operating models, organizational realignment and PMI, large scale operational efficiency initiatives and transformative technology investments.

Mr. Burgess also supports private equity firms, institutional investors and family offices in evaluating financial technology opportunities and turnaround situations in the payments, mortgage, retail distribution and consumer finance sectors.

Prior to A&M, Mr. Burgess led Acument Partners, a privately held advisory group serving global and regional financial institutions and service providers on a range of strategic repositioning initiatives. He was previously a Principal and National Leader of the Banking & Finance practice at Deloitte Consulting LLP. Prior to joining Deloitte, he co-led the North American Financial Services practice for Booz & Company and served as founding partner of the Financial Services practice at A. T. Kearney. Earlier in his career, Mr. Burgess worked for the private equity firm of Golder Thoma & Cressey (GTCR).

Mr. Burgess earned a bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College, where he graduated as valedictorian and member of Phi Beta Kappa, and attended the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
