Sankar Krishnan, a Managing Director and Co-Head of Alvarez & Marsal India, has more than 40 years of management experience and financial and operations expertise. He has served clients across the retail, manufacturing, construction, facility management, telecom and information technology sectors.

Mr. Krishnan most recently served as Interim Managing Director of Dura-Line India, a maker of high density poly ethylene (HDPE) duct pipes. Previously, he served as Restructuring Adviser to a large European apparel maker and retailer and a financial and operations adviser to Shop Direct Group, one of the largest online retailer based in U.K., and as CEO of OCM India, one of the largest worsted wool fabric manufacturers in India.

Mr. Krishnan advised a large Kuwait investment house on its investments in real estate, banks, airlines and the energy sector. Prior to this, he acted as financial adviser to a drug wholesale-and-retail company based in Saudi Arabia.

Other notable assignments include serving European clients as: Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) and board member for Nybron Flooring International, a leading European wood flooring manufacturer; CEO of Ihr Platz GmbH, one of the largest German retail drug store chains; CRO, CFO and board member for SICPA SA, a leading provider of security ink and integrated security systems in Switzerland, where he planned and implemented plant consolidations and cost reduction and established budget and financial reporting disciplines; and CRO of Network Plus Corp.

Mr. Krishnan also served as CRO for Bridge Information Systems, a worldwide distributor of financial information, where he implemented billing and collection procedures to improve working capital and led a team of professionals on the mergers and acquisitions process to sell all of Bridge’s assets. He also acted as financial adviser to Grand Union, a supermarket chain and served as restructuring adviser to Kasper ASL Ltd., an apparel maker.

Before A&M, Mr. Krishnan was SVP and Chief Financial Officer of Phar-Mor, Inc., a $1.4 billion discount drugstore chain in the U.S. He also served as SVP of Finance and Administration for Thrifty Drug Stores and as SVP and CFO for Lord & Taylor. He began his retail career at Bamberger’s, a division of Macy's, where served in various executive positions.

Mr. Krishnan earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Madras in India and a master’s degree in applied sciences from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. A U.S. national, he is fluent in English and Tamil.
