He has extensive experience in project management, improving productivity, supply chain management, sales and operations planning, inventory pull systems, operations management/metrics, and P&L management across a variety of industries.
Mr. Thompson specializes in increasing productivity and reducing costs through manufacturing and business process improvement initiatives. Notable accomplishments include improving annual EBITDA from $8MM to $12MM in four months of a protein processing and bakery company through shop floor and serving as interim CEO of a $200 million meat processing company where he improved EBITDA from $8MM to $12MM in four months.
His interim management experience includes serving as interim COO for a $300 million nut processing company, where he established operations metrics, managed both U.S. and Mexican operations, and transitioned the company to new ownership and as interim V.P. of Operations for a global consumer products company, where he established operations metrics, improved productivity 15%, reduced setup times over 50%, reduced finished goods inventory 40%, and reduced scrap over 10%.
Mr. Thompson served as general manager for a $200 million Mexican division of a $24 billion global contract manufacturer, including directing the green-field startup of a Mexican-U.S. border plastics and metals operation. Additionally, he, managed a multi-plant and distribution consolidation of a vinyl wall covering manufacturer, improving EBITDA significantly. He also led the restructuring of a global appliance manufacturing company where he significantly improved EBITDA and decreased inventory through a methodical approach to cost reduction, cash generation, and project management.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Thompson was a Managing Director at Deloitte CRG, where he led Deloitte Advisory's Performance Improvement service offering, improving EBITDA and optimizing inventory and working capital for numerous companies in a variety of industries.
Prior to Deloitte CRG, Mr. Thompson was General Manager and Operations Director of Flextronics Mexico, where he had P&L responsibility for mechanicals in multiple locations in Mexico.
Mr. Thompson earned his MBA degree from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University.
Mr. Thompson is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), as well as a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) with the Turnaround Management Association.
