Mr. Benz’s has served as Chief Transformation Officer of a $380M International Manufacturer of retail merchandising, point-of-purchase displays, open service systems, fixtures and floor stands where he was responsible for both information technology and the transformation of the commercial organization. He also served as interim CIO of a $100M, 120 store, National Optical Retailer where he developed a strategic plan including new retail operations systems, infrastructure and organizational design to accommodate four year, trebling of retail store operations.
Additionally, Mr. Benz served as CIO of Boars Head Brand where he led the IT restructuring efforts after a failed, severely business impacting, enterprise-wide systems implementation for this private, multi-billion-dollar revenue, 3,000 employee multi-location manufacturer and distributor of premium branded delicatessen meats, cheeses and condiments. Supported 24X6 business operational “up-time” requirements and business continuity objectives through the design and implementation of two new high availability data centers.
Prior to this, Mr. Benz served as VP of Finance and Information Technology of Tropicana Chilled Direct Store Delivery (CDSD), PepsiCo where he managed the finance, information technology and shared service teams in the successful start-up and expansion of this $340M business unit.
Additionally, he served as VP of Merger Integration with PepsiCo where he planned and executed the successful integration of PepsiCo’s $13B Quaker Oats acquisition with Tropicana Products and Frito Lay North America. Here, he transitioned mission-critical business processes and information systems in 150 days without business disruption while exceeding worldwide year one merger savings targets by $35M.
Mr. Benz was then VP of Sales Operations, Shared Services with Tropicana where he created and guided Tropicana Products Sales Operations and Customer Financial Services Center of Excellence in the achievement of industry-leading consumer products financial performance and customer service results, including cash conversion cycle, bad-debt write-offs, invoice accuracy and order fill rate. He successfully generated a $2.4M increase in cash flow and $40M improvement in trade spending efficiency.
Mr. Benz earned both his MBA and bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University.
