
Most recently, Mr. Papangelis participated in a high-profile sector-wide restructuring case. Previously, he executed and project managed significant NPL-related advisory assignments for systemic Greek banks comprising portfolio diagnostic assessments, bottom-up debtor strategy formulation, portfolio recovery analyses, deleveraging planning and assessment of internal recovery unit organizations.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Papangelis served as Senior Vice President at Sciens International Investments & Participations, the European arm of a U.S. alternative investments and private equity firm. In this capacity, he evaluated new investment opportunities and acted as portfolio manager for domestic legacy investments across a range of sectors.
Previously, he was VP in Corporate & Investment Banking with Bank of America in Athens and a key member of the team that originated and executed several high-profile transactions that helped reposition the bank's offering in Greece. In this capacity, Mr. Papangelis provided mergers and acquisitions advisory as well as debt and equity capital market solutions.
Mr. Papangelis' investment banking career commenced in the City of London where he joined Credit Suisse First Boston as a leveraged finance professional, providing debt financing solutions to European corporate clients and financial sponsors in leveraged buyout-related transactions. He then moved to Gleacher & Co, a mergers and acquisition advisory boutique, where he advised U.K. and European clients in a range of transactions.
Mr. Papangelis earned a Master of Philosophy degree in economics from the University of Oxford (U.K.) and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Birmingham (U.K.). A Greek national, he is fluent in Greek and English.
