Mr. Corner-Jones is currently the Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) of Afren PLC and recently acted as Restructuring Advisor to the board of Autobar, a CVC-owned business, and helped management through a transition of ownership.
In 2012 and 2013, Mr. Corner-Jones served as an executive director on the board of Biffa Waste Management, a company with £1 billion of debt. The company completed its restructuring with approximately £500 million of debt removed from the company balance sheet.
Also in 2012, Mr. Corner-Jones was the CRO of Eircom, the telecommunications provider in Ireland, which was a landmark examinership case and the largest in Irish history. About €1.4 billion of debt was removed from the company balance sheet, and Eircom was awarded the International Turnaround of the Year Award as a result.
Mr. Corner-Jones was the CRO of Wind Hellas during its financial restructuring in 2010. This was one of the largest and most complex restructurings to take place in Europe, requiring the use of multiple multi-jurisdictional restructuring tools to ensure a successful outcome. Debt totalling €1.8 billion was removed from the balance sheet, leaving the company debt free. The deal was the largest foreign direct investment in Greece since the financial crisis began.
Mr. Corner-Jones has served as CEO on the boards of several companies and has led A&M teams that assisted in the design and successful implementation of a number of cash flow improvement and working capital improvement initiatives for clients. These include Chesapeake Corp., a $1 billion turnover global packaging business, and TMD Friction, a €700 million turnover global manufacturer of auto brake products.
Previously, Mr. Corner-Jones served as the Interim Treasurer of Treofan Group, a €450 million turnover German global packaging materials company, where he assumed day-to-day responsibility for cash management and reporting. He successfully implemented profit and working capital improvement programs, creating significant value for the group. He was a member of the A&M team that assisted British Energy Plc., a £1.5 billion turnover nuclear energy company, with implementing its reorganisation plan.
Before A&M, Mr. Corner-Jones worked with Ernst & Young, where he led teams at Global Telesystems and Dolphin Telecommunications (and other engagements). During those engagements, he worked with management teams to develop cash and capital management programmes during financial restructurings.
Earlier in his career, he served in operational roles within the food distribution industry.
Mr. Corner-Jones holds a master’s degree in business administration, with distinction, from Manchester Business School. He is a qualified accountant (ACMA), a member of the Society of Turnaround Professionals and a qualified treasurer (AMCT). He is a U.K. national.
