He was previously based in A&M’s Los Angeles office.
Mr. Western has assisted clients in the development of business plans and the assessment of strategic restructuring alternatives including negotiation of debt restructuring, as well as the development, analysis and implementation of operating restructuring alternatives.
He has more than 15 years of financial restructuring experience in a number of international jurisdictions including the U.S. and Australia. He has experience across a variety of industries including homebuilding, real estate, technology, mining, telecommunications, manufacturing and aviation.
Mr. Western has acted in interim management roles at Vitesse Semiconductor including Interim Treasurer. Key accomplishments include: assisting in closing a senior secured financing transaction, working with a team to divest a non-core division, implementing cash generation strategies through working capital initiatives, and implementing operating cost reduction strategies.
He also acted as Vice President of Finance at Leiner Health Products through a successful Chapter 11 process that delivered 100 percent recovery to their secured creditors and sale of the company. In addition, he implemented operating restructuring initiatives to improve customer delivery performance.
Notable advisory and interim management assignments have included: Grubb & Ellis, Great Basin Gold, William Lyon Homes, Building Materials Holdings, Lake Las Vegas, Oakwood Homes Corp., and Ansett Aircraft Spares and Services.
Before joining A&M, Mr. Western was a senior manager in the restructuring group of a Big Four firm.
Mr. Western earned bachelor's degrees in both economics and commerce from the University of Adelaide in South Australia.
He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA), a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and a member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA).
