Mark Johnson is a Senior Director with A&M Corporate Performance Improvement in Seattle. He specializes in operational transformation, large scale program management as well as business strategies that enable rapid and scalable growth.

His primary areas of concentration include supply chain reinvention, strategic sourcing, procure to pay process optimization and integrated end-to-end value chain technology solutions. Mr. Johnson is an expert at leading transformational change driven by the implementation of new technologies, business processes or organizational designs including outsourcing and shared service transitions.

With more than 25 years of operational industry and consulting experience, Mr. Johnson has helped both fortune 500 companies and startups reimagine their business operations and restructure their organizations to reduce cycle times, improve profitability and remove waste. He has global experience in the retail, CPG and hospitality sectors in Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America.

At A&M, Mr. Johnson  has led several strategic sourcing assessment and cost savings execution projects that also help clients understand where they need to move to on the supply chain maturity continuum and how to get there.

 He led the supply chain transformation for a $0.75B restaurant and consumer packaged goods company including creation and implementation of people, process and technology strategies to enable the company to double in size in three years. He also evaluated different technology solutions and advised the client on the  best fit from a capabilities, cost and future scalability perspective, as well as  drove a multi-stream cost optimization initiative that included strategic sourcing and implementation of legal and  logistics and  transportation services. His work on the project resulted in the removal of cost and waste from manufacturing and store operations.

 Mr. Johnson led the implementation of complex operational transitions from shared service to outsourced customer facing solutions. This included change management, technology transition, financial and program oversight.  He also led balanced scorecard initiatives for clients to enable external benchmarking and improved governance of operational performance.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Johnson spent 11 years with Starbucks Coffee Company, where he held various leadership roles in the largest global business transformation program in Starbuck’s history (Oracle ERP). He was the business leader of the “procure to pay” (PTP) track which led the creation of the procurement five-year vision for the company. Later, he led the global PMO where he managed 13 work streams and a $300M capital and expense budget.

Earlier in his career at Starbucks, Mr. Johnson led and ultimately restructured the regional supply chain team supporting the construction and operation of over 1,000 stores throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa. He was a member of the regional leadership team based in Amsterdam. In this role, Mr. Johnson  created a regional supply chain shared services organization that provided the optimum combination of cost effective central services with responsive local support to twelve joint venture, company-operated and licensed market business units. This enabled 35% revenue growth per year and drove significant cost and service improvements.

Mr. Johnson previously held operational management roles in several global food manufacturing and distribution companies based both in Europe and North America. Mr. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University of Bristol in the UK. He is Prosci change management certified and a lean six sigma practitioner and trainer.
