Kelly Beaudin Stapleton is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in New York and founded the firm’s Unsecured Creditors’ Committee practice. She brings extensive experience as a financial adviser in the fiduciary realm of trustee, examiner, receiver and administrator.

Her industry expertise spans the auto, banking, manufacturing, logistics and professional services sectors.

Ms. Stapleton has advised the Unsecured Creditors’ Committees in SunEdison, Relativity Media, Kodak, NewPage, Kaiser Gypsum, Buccaneer Energy, and Boomerang Tube. She currently serves as the Liquidating Trustee in OW Bunker, SGK Metals, and Mount Vernon Monetary Management Center.  She also advises global companies on structural optimization, The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and regulatory matters.

Before A&M, Ms. Stapleton was a managing director with two financial advisory firms in New York, representing debtors and creditors in reorganizations, liquidations, Section 363 sales and fraud investigations.

Previously, Ms. Stapleton was the U.S. Trustee for Region 3, appointed by the U.S. Attorney General in January 2005. In this role, she managed five state offices and was accountable for all bankruptcies filed in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She was responsible for hundreds of significant business and corporate restructurings, including Owens Corning, New Century Financial, Dura Automotive Systems and Sharper Image, working with distressed companies, creditors and lenders.

Prior to her appointment, she was in private practice from 1997-2005 and began her legal career in 1995 as an Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.

Ms. Stapleton earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a juris doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center. A frequent speaker and author on restructuring nationally, she has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on Bloomberg.

With more than a decade of board governance experience, Ms. Stapleton is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute's Board, served as the co-chair of the ABI's Ethics and Professional Compensation Committee, The Mid-Atlantic Advisory Board, and co-founded the Writing Competition for the ABI Business Law Committee. She is on the editorial board of the New Jersey Bankruptcy Manual and a member of the Forum of Executive Women.
