Kathleen Bennett is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Performance Improvement group in Seattle. She specializes in program management, financial analysis, business process improvement and strategy.

With more than 15 years of industry and consulting experience, Ms. Bennett focuses on providing program management for complex initiatives, conducting organizational assessments and designing implementation roadmaps for clients within and across functional areas. She has worked with clients across various industries, including the financial services, utilities, non-profit, education, e-commerce and travel.

Most recently, Ms. Bennett has led a team in re-designing cost reporting processes and systems, developing an implementation road map, and leading the implementation of changes for a large utility company.

Ms. Bennett’s notable assignments at A&M have spanned a wide range of program management, operations and strategy. She designed and managed the business operations of an education tech (“Ed Tech”) start-up, including its budget, financial reporting and vendor contracts. She oversaw an important research initiative in partnership with a large foundation and a major university, and conducted an assessment of an auto parts manufacturer’s accounting control processes as part of an acquisition due diligence process. She also led a team in creating a set of analytical tools designed to assist school districts in whole system redesign efforts, including assessments of multiple urban school districts and development of implementation plans to support re-design strategies.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Bennett worked in the capital markets group of Thornburg Mortgage in Santa Fe, NM, where she served as a financial analyst and commercial paper trader. She managed the trading and operations of Thornburg’s $10 billion asset-backed commercial paper conduit, and later designed and deployed a SQL database to handle their $40 billion securities portfolio. She also coordinated large mortgage securitizations, including the supervision of due diligence, validation of data accuracy and streamlining of day-to-day data management processes.

Ms. Bennett earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College, a second bachelor’s degree in political science from New York University, and an MBA from the University of Washington. She holds a CFA charter from the CFA Institute, a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute and Change Management certification from Prosci.
