With more than 16 years of experience, Mr. Stuart has served in senior roles at financial advisory firms, building teams that focus on restructuring and performance improvement for corporations in healthy and distressed states.
Mr. Stuart’s notable recent assignments include Energy Future Holdings, Lear Corporation, Blockbuster Inc., Vitro America, LLC and Hawker Beechcraft Corporation.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Stuart recently served as Portfolio Manager and Head of Portfolio Company Strategy at Highland Capital Management, LP (Highland), an asset management firm in Dallas with over $35 billion under management, specializing in alternative investment strategies. During his tenure at Highland, Mr. Stuart oversaw a $1.2 billion distressed private equity portfolio with ten portfolio companies across six industries, including building products, retail, industrial, aerospace / defense, consumer products and media / telecommunications. He focused on long-term strategy development / positioning, directing the internal performance improvement team on operational turnaround activities, creation of personnel management plans (employment agreements, short and long term incentive plans) and building enterprise risk management programs in both high-growth and distressed environments. While at Highland, Mr. Stuart served on the Board of Directors for Trussway Industries, Inc., NexPak Corporation and NexTech Aerospace.
Previously, Mr. Stuart was a founding member and served as a Managing Director with Barrier Advisors. He was also a Manager in the corporate recovery group of Arthur Andersen and a Senior Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mr. Stuart earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Rice University. He is a CFA charterholder and Certified Restructuring and Insolvency Advisor (CIRA).
