Jerry Lay is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Zurich, Switzerland. He brings over 12 years of experience in conducting major investigations and in advising clients on enhancing compliance frameworks and functions.

Mr. Lay has led numerous high-profile investigations related to allegations of fraud and corruption, misappropriation of assets, conflict of interest, market manipulation and data theft. He has worked with clients across a range of industries including pharmaceuticals and life sciences, financial services and industrial products. Mr. Lay also has extensive experience working in emerging markets with a strong focus on Asia and is often invited to speak at conferences on effectively managing risks when doing business in Asia. ​

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Lay spent 10 years with Deloitte Switzerland in the forensic area, most recently serving in a leading role in the investigations business. He led the creation of an innovative, technology-enabled investigation methodology, oversaw testing on a number of strategic clients across industries and successfully led the implementation of the methodology across the forensic practice. Prior to that, he served as Co-Leader of Deloitte Switzerland’s Asia Services Desk. ​

Previously, Mr. Lay served as the Global CFO of a pharmaceutical group of companies headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, where he headed the internal services departments including financial accounting and reporting, controlling, compliance, HR and IT. He led the implementation of IFRS across the globe and the introduction of a new global ERP system; designed a new global talent acquisition and retention model (including a global compensation model); and was involved in a range of M&A projects that involved both the carve-out of non-critical business units and the purchase of strategic targets. As a member of the Global Board of Directors, he also served as Country President, overseeing operations in China and Singapore. ​

Mr. Lay earned a degree in business IT from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. A Swiss national, he speaks German (fluent), English (fluent), Chinese (Mandarin fluent, basic knowledge in Cantonese), French (intermediate) and Italian (basic knowledge). ​
