He brings extensive experience in the development of a wide range of executive benefit programs with particular emphasis on nonqualified plans. He also brings broad experience in the BOLI (bank-owned life insurance) marketplace.
Mr. Lubin was Executive Vice President with NYLEX Benefits, the executive benefits consulting arm of New York Life. His responsibilities included development of nonqualified executive benefit programs financed with corporate-owned life insurance.
He was the architect of a broad range of proprietary software programs, including SERP-PLUS™ actuarial models, 501K™, iSERP and ReiSource™ Management System. He also developed BOLI-Star® — a unique system used to evaluate the regulatory compliance of all U.S. banks related to BOLI. He served as the Chief Actuary, as well as Registered Principal for the affiliated broker-dealer, NYLIFE Securities LLC.
Prior to NYLEX, Mr. Lubin was co-founder and COO of Insurance Alliances Group and Clark-Bardes Partners, the predecessor organizations to NYLEX Benefits. He also was Division Director of Mutual of New York (MONY), with responsibilities for strategic planning, product development, human resources, facilities management and IT. In addition, he was Vice President of Logistics of American Operations Corporation, a nationally recognized consulting firm specializing in operations and maintenance of major government facilities for the Departments of Defense and Energy.
Previously, Mr. Lubin was Director of Marine Facilities and Transportation and General Manager of Terminals for Pacific Resources, Inc., a Hawaii-based integrated oil company. He also formed Pacific-Platou, a joint-venture ship broker, and served as its General Manager. He was formerly a Program Manager for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve crude oil storage program operated by the Department of Energy.
He served as Assistant Officer in Charge of the U.S. Navy Fuel Detachment, Tsurumi, Japan, the largest military fuel depot in the Western Pacific. He then served as Director of Tanker Operations for the U.S. Department of Defense, managing a fleet of over 40 tankers supporting U.S. combat and operational forces worldwide.
Mr. Lubin earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in administration from George Washington University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School, U.S. Army Quartermaster School, and U.S. Naval War College Policy & Strategy Course.
He is an associate member of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries and a member of the American Meteorological Society. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is a retired Captain, Supply Corps, U.S. Naval Reserve.
Mr. Lubin holds registrations with FINRA for Series 6, 63 and 26, and is a licensed life insurance broker.
