He brings over 25 years of M&A experience in technology-centric roles in both industry management and advisory roles assisting private equity firms and corporates navigate the transaction life cycle.
Mr. Spencer has worked on over 200 transactions with clients across the globe in a range of industries, including financial services, retail, life sciences and TMT with experience in technology due diligence, separations / integrations, Day 1 execution, assessing synergies and technology-enabled performance improvement.
Most recently, Mr. Spencer led the sell-side due diligence and subsequent technology separation of an international bank headquartered out of London following its decision to sell its alternative funds division to a private equity fund across 27 different geographical locations. Earlier in the year, Mr. Spencer led the buy-side due diligence and resulting technology integration of a global Fortune 100 information technology company in the U.S. and U.K.
Prior to that, Mr. Spencer worked in the CTO’s office at SABMiller working on the acquisitions of Peroni and Grupo Bavaria in both Europe and South America integrating both organisations. Before 2005, Mr. Spencer worked for UBS assisting with the acquisitions of Swiss Bank Corporation (SBC) and Warburg Dillon Read integrating their equity and FX trading floors on Wall Street and in London.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Spencer was a Partner with Deloitte in London within Transaction Services where he established the M&A Technology practice targeting both corporate and private equity funds. Some of his notable assignments included performing due diligence services for a private equity fund on the acquisition of a credit payments business; and leading the sell-side due diligence and global integration for an international pharmaceuticals company.
Mr. Spencer has also held CIO roles for a technology startup, private equity fund and music copyright organisation.
