He helps clients turn around projects in distress, integrate acquired companies, divest business segments, run IT operations, outsource services, turn around troubled ERP implementations, and improve processes.
In his most recent engagement, Mr. Duran led the integration and IT strategy alignment of the finance and accounting function for a client in the construction industry. This included managing the relocation of people and processes from companies acquired by the parent company to the home office, as well as integrating the new business units with the parent’s IT strategy – deploying its core ERP and other key technologies to improve financial reporting, financial and accounting processes, and simplifying the IT landscape.
For a global construction company, he led the turnaround of a troubled SAP implementation project that included HR, payroll, accounting, purchasing, operations, sales, billing and tax modules. This included the restructuring of the project team, taking over the leadership of the project’s PMO, and management of all third-party vendors supporting the efforts. The system was implemented successfully, on time, and within budget. Mr. Duran has also delivered Oracle and PeopleSoft solutions for clients in various industries.
He has served as acquisition integration leader assisting a Fortune 500 company in the energy industry integrate two major acquisitions. Mr. Duran coordinated all integration activities across the various business teams, assisted with developing a transition services agreement, reviewed IT needs for all areas, and planned all activities for “Day 1” operations.
Mr. Duran served as the leader in an accounts payable remediation project assisting an energy client resolve critical problems and drive improvements to processes and technology. Within six weeks, backlog invoices were reduced from 18,000 to 1,600, unresolved exceptions were eliminated, paid on time metric was improved from 68 to 98 percent, and received to posted-for-payment was improved from 27 days to five days.
Mr. Duran has assisted U.S. companies in expanding operations in Mexico, as well as serving as interim CIO for clients already established in Mexico. In this capacity, he helped clients in the energy and manufacturing industries.
Before A&M, he was a business process manager at Microsoft, spearheading their business performance management strategy. Earlier, he served as a senior manager with KPMG and Arthur Andersen, responsible for helping clients in Central Texas address technology and business needs.
Mr. Duran earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from the Universidad Autonoma De Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
