Mr. Frantzen has provided opinions of value, fairness and solvency for financial reporting, income tax reporting, dispute resolution, mergers and acquisitions, and other purposes.
With 30 years of experience, he has advised clients regarding the value of potential strategic alternatives, business plans and corporate transactions; valued assets for business combinations, fresh start accounting and impairment measurement; valued businesses and assets for tax reporting; and provided independent fairness and solvency opinions for contemplated transactions.
Mr. Frantzen has worked with clients in healthcare, chemicals, transportation, automotive and aerospace, construction materials, business and consumer services, infrastructure and utilities, financial institutions and insurance, food and agricultural products, paper and packaging, retail and wholesale distribution, and industrial products.
Notable assignments include the valuation of: tangible and intangible assets of a multi-billion dollar multinational for fresh start accounting; a regional health system’s assets with respect to its acquisition by a major university medical center; large water and transportation infrastructure projects for financing and financial reporting; tangible and intangible assets of a large, multinational chemical producer acquired by a private equity sponsor; and shares of a hospital management company regarding a dissenting shareholder dispute.
He also developed economic value measurement frameworks, measured business unit value contributions and analyzed pro forma performance of potential business combinations. He has appeared as an expert witness regarding the value of businesses and assets in state and federal court.
Most recently, he managed the Chicago office and was national chair of the healthcare practice at American Appraisal. Earlier, he was a partner at Arthur Andersen.
Mr. Frantzen earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from DePaul University. He is a CFA Charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst) and registered General Securities Representative and Securities Agent (FINRA Series 7 and 63). He is a member of the CFA institute, CFA Society of Chicago and the HFMA.
