With more than 24 years of restructuring and interim management experience, Mr. Barton specializes in providing leadership to start-up companies, as well as those in turnaround, restructuring and insolvency situations.

Mr. Barton also performs debt and equity due diligence projects for special situation companies (e.g., private equity backed start-ups). His primary areas of expertise include in- and out-of-court financial and operational restructurings, interim management positions at the C-suite level (Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Controller and Treasurer), business plan development and implementation, lender negotiations (including waivers and amendments) and liquidity management including cash forecasting. He also advises on working capital management and development of cash controls, vendor negotiations, development of financial planning and reporting functions, cost rationalization projects, development of Chapter 11 plans of reorganization and post-confirmation trusteeships.

Mr. Barton brings experience across a range of industries including oil and gas, petrochemical and energy. He has been appointed as a receiver in state court, and has assisted in a variety of other state court receiverships and Chapter 11 and 7 trusteeships in federal bankruptcy court.

He assisted the Chief Operating Officer responsible for worldwide operations throughout the restructuring process and managed staff in the Houston and Nigerian offices.

Mr. Barton previously served as CFO / Treasurer for Power Line Services Inc., an electrical infrastructure contractor for the energy industry. He was initially responsible for developing a cash management system that included forecasting short-term and long-term cash needs, identifying and remediating cash control deficiencies, implementing corporate process changes to improve working capital efficiencies, developing daily cash reporting packages and day-to-day cash management to ensure continued liquidity. His role subsequently broadened to interim CFO where he worked with the company’s private equity owners and management to refinance the company’s debt facilities, construct a 2012 “bottoms-up” budget and facilitate additional private equity infusions.
