Specializing in leading the planning and execution of transactions that significantly change companies’ capital structures, Mr. Guarda de Mateo has worked in Mexico’s most dynamic sectors including financial services, real estate, hospitality, housing, food and beverage, government and sports.
Mr. Guarda de Mateo’s transactional exposure has allowed him to gain valuable experience in gathering and analyzing facts to model complex situations in order to provide independent, objective and fact-based recommendations that result in strategic change.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Guarda de Mateo was the Executive Director of Banorte’s Private Equity Management Group and led the fund formation process for the bank’s first private equity fund. He also led the client-focused financial advisory and merger and acquisition (M&A) efforts while serving as Director of Investment Banking. Mr. Guarda de Mateo was also a founding partner of a local distressed real estate investment private equity fund and an investment banking boutique. Prior to his entrepreneurial roles, he worked for a specialized team at Deloitte advising clients in M&A transactions in the Madrid and Mexico City offices.
Mr. Guarda de Mateo earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the Tec de Monterrey and a master’s degree in international finance from the Universitait van Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
