He provides financial due diligence services and advice around the financial and accounting aspects of the transaction structure, helping to create value throughout the transaction lifecycle.
He brings more than 16 years’ experience of working with global corporates, private equity houses, debt providers and management. His background comprises both mid market and large multinational transactions concerning companies across a range of industries. He has led miscellaneous cross-border projects in the past and advised clients in Germany, China, the U.K., Italy, the U.S. and Sweden. In addition to his main focus on the German transaction market, Mr. Hiltner has also conducted various due diligence assignments in Italy.
His sector expertise includes automotive, manufacturing, healthcare, chemicals, cleantech as well as e-commerce.
Mr. Hiltner has developed skills in critically evaluating a company’s key financial and operational business drivers, the quality and sustainability of forecast earnings and cash flows, and potential changes in a company’s working capital requirements.
In addition to his experience in the Transaction Advisory field, he has worked on many projects concerning companies in all kind of restructuring situations, i.e. providing advice in the form of Independent Business Reviews, Restructuring opinions (in compliance with the German restructuring standard for chartered accountants IDW S6) and Option, Business Plan and Solvency Reviews. During the economic and financial crisis he also advised federal ministries in the field of state aid.
The clients he advised include Porsche, Deutz, AirLiquide, Fosun, VINCI, ATU, KKR, Triton, Webasto, FiatChrysler, Deutsche Bahn and Bayer.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hiltner was a (Ass.) Partner in Grant Thornton’s Transaction and Restructuring & Reorganisation Services departments and a Director in Deloitte’s Corporate Finance practice in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Mr Hiltner started his career with KPMG in the Audit and Transaction Services departments. During this time he was seconded to KPMG’s Milan office for 18 months.
Mr. Hiltner, a German native speaker, is also fluent in English and Italian.
He earned a degree (with distinction) in business administration from the University of Cologne in Germany and a MBA from SDA Bocconi in Milan and is a CFA charter holder.
Mr. Hiltner has published various articles in the specialist press, e.g. on acquisitions out of insolvency, financial covenant compliance and restructuring opinions.
