Dave Jurgens is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s North American Commercial Restructuring practice in Chicago.

His primary areas of concentration include strategic business plan development, evaluation and execution, liquidity and working capital assessments, performance improvement and cost reduction initiatives, divestitures and carve-outs, recovery analysis development, and due diligence support.

With more than 10 years of corporate restructuring and financial advisory experience, Mr. Jurgens has worked with clients across a range of industries including power generation, manufacturing, retail, wholesaling, aerospace, food service, construction and horticulture.

Mr. Jurgens is currently advising FirstEnergy Solutions, a merchant power generator with approximately 10,000 MWs of generation assets, through a Chapter 11 restructuring.  He is actively involved in leading the formulation of business plans and strategic alternatives, assessing intercompany dependencies, standing up and outsourcing shared services functions, assisting in an evaluation of various asset sale and acquisition opportunities, and engaging in due diligence and restructuring negotiations.

Previously, Mr. Jurgens advised Nebraska Book Company, one of the nation’s largest college textbook wholesalers and retailers, through the divestiture and sale of its retail business and refinancing of its debt facilities.  Other noteworthy engagements include holding an interim FP&A position with a leading remanufacturer of auto transmissions and engines, during which he was responsible for driving the development of a detailed fiscal year operating budget, advising Allens, Inc. through a competitive and successful §363 sale process which included assisting with various performance improvement initiatives, and advising Hawker Beechcraft Corporation through a Chapter 11 restructuring which was awarded “2013 Turnaround of the Year – Mega Company” by the TMA.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Jurgens spent three years with FTI Consulting’s Corporate Finance and Restructuring practice.

Mr. Jurgens earned a master’s degree in accounting and bachelor’s degrees in finance and accounting from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, where he graduated summa cum laude.  He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Illinois.
