Mr. Spragg brings significant technical and market experience in directors’ and officers’ liability, workers’ compensation, property and casualty coverages and risk management solutions for commercial exposures. Utilizing his underwriting expertise and legal knowledge, he has helped international corporations and leading private equity firms implement best practices in insurance program design, coverage terms and conditions, and insurance vendor selection and management. During his A&M career, he has provided expert witness services for leading law firms, operational support for state insurance regulators, and interim leadership for corporate and restructuring clients including assuming leadership of Lehman Brothers Holdings’ portfolio risk management.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Spragg was Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) with United National Group, a national specialty property and casualty insurance carrier. As CUO for UNG, and previously for Fireman's Fund Specialty Insurance, Mr. Spragg led all underwriting operations and was responsible for all pricing, coverage design and broker compensation on more than $1.5 billion in written premiums.
Mr. Spragg earned a bachelor's degree in economics and business from Drury University, and a J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law (admitted to the Illinois Bar). His professional designations include: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) and Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF). He also serves as Chair of the Self Insurance and Risk Management committee in the Tort and Insurance Practice section of the American Bar Association.
