Dan Rahill is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand in Chicago. He advises public, private and middle-market companies on tax advisory matters, as well as structuring and compliance, tax outsourcing, tax provision and accounting issues.

Mr. Rahill brings more than 30 years of experience across sectors including consumer and industrial products, energy, manufacturing, retail distribution, alternative investment funds, professional services and family offices. He has significant expertise counseling clients on global restructuring; negotiation and transaction management in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; and financial modeling and budgeting.

Mr. Rahill joined A&M from FGMK, where he served as Partner-in-Charge of Tax Services for closely held, public and individual clients. While there, he led many of the firm’s accounts, with a focus on international tax issues, trademark valuation and the development of tax-free material spinoffs. Additionally, Mr. Rahill advised on entity selection, private equity startups, and inbound and outbound investments.

Previously, Mr. Rahill was a partner at KPMG LLP for 21 years and served in a number of leadership roles, including Partner-in-Charge, Tax, of the Chicago Metro Business Unit for 10 years. Managing a team of 350 tax professionals, he was responsible for financial analyses, project management, team leadership, relationship building, practice growth and development, and operations management. Mr. Rahill was also a trustee of the KPMG Foundation and served as the Global Lead Partner on many of KPMG’s high-profile accounts.

Mr. Rahill earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. and a master’s degree in law from DePaul University Law School. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant. Mr. Rahill serves on the Illinois CPA Society Board of Directors as its Immediate Past Chairman, on the Board of the Illinois CPA Society Endowment Fund and is an Illinois representative to the AICPA National Council. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of Metropolitan Family Services of Chicago and is on the Advisory Boards of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Illinois Accounting Programs.
