He brings more than 15 years of international experience in the finance industry and a focus on restructuring and turnaround programs.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Pappas worked for ERGO Insurance Group. He joined the group as Chief Operating Officer in Turkey and was responsible for the design and implementation of the company’s restructuring program, culminating in the return of the company to operating profitability following several years of losses. The turnaround effort included the review of the business portfolio, the development and execution of a new strategy, the redesign of the operating model and all core business processes and the introduction of a new IT system, along with a strong cultural transformation component.
Following this role, he assumed the responsibilities of the Head of regional management for the Southeast Mediterranean and Southeast Asia regions, where he oversaw the completion of the transaction marking ERGO’s market entry through acquisition in Thailand. Based out of Germany, he was also involved in several group strategic initiatives (market entry collaborations, partnership and acquisition explorations) and co-led the development of ERGO’s international strategy for the largest entities across the group.
Additionally, Mr. Pappas served more than 10 years at McKinsey & Company, where he focused on strategy, performance improvement and large-scale change programs for leading institutions predominantly in the financial services industry (banking, insurance & private equity). He served clients in Greece, Turkey, U.S., Israel, France & Southeast Asia on restructuring and turnaround efforts, post-merger integration, regulatory strategy as well as several private equity transactions.
Mr. Pappas is a Chemical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens and also earned a MBA from INSEAD. A Greek national, he is fluent in Greek and English, proficient in German and has a working knowledge of Turkish.
